The Steelpan (also known as steel drum or pan) is an especially unique musical instrument originating from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Duncan Morellet began to play with saxophone and bass from his early age. About eight years ago, when he first encountered with the pleasant melody of Steelpan, he was deeply attracted. Ever since then, he also started a pan soloist career playing and recording with several bands in France.

In the afternoon, Duncan is going to perform two solos regarding the accoustic, and compositions pieces with his amazing steelpan at Rockbund Art Museum. Besides, in another evening, Duncan will embrace his friends who are talented musicians in Shanghai to present a calypso and Caribbean Jazz as a group for the audience to experience more scenery about the museum inadvertently.



About the musicians



Duncan Morellet

Originally based in France multi-instrumentist, studied music in his early age at the conservatory, learning classical music, playing saxophone and piano. Moved to Shanghai two years ago with his tenor-pan he brought back from Trinidad and his personal shaped double second, he now-a-day spreads the magical sound of his instruments made from petrol barrels in the city and around China.



Zhang Mengbin

He studied music in his early age he moved into Shanghai as been performing in Shanghai since 2003.He worked with various composers and musicians on different stages.



Josadac Freire Ferreira Jr.

Although received professional training for singing, yet good at many genres of music including jazz, blues, Latin etc. especially familiar with guitar playing and also concerned with regional instruments of South America. He was invited for performances for the 2010 Expo in Shanghai.
