The relationship between continents, oceans and islands is inseparable. The "Hundred Islands Plan" discovered the extension of human society - the branch of marine residents and islanders by studying the behavior of mainland people in the sea and between islands. They found that when walking on the island, they gradually realized that the weaker the social structure of the administrative organization and life organization, the stronger the relationship between people and the natural environment and the location. In this alienated island society, human production activities, survival activities and other organisms, environment and climate are interdependent and mutually affected. They also seek a self consistency and a way of coexistence.
In this sharing, He Junyan, the initiator of the Sea Initiative (2016 -) and the Hundred Islands Initiative (2018 -), will introduce how art practitioners can participate in society through exploration, travel and visit, and creative activities. He will also reflect on and present the mutual connection between these two projects with different starting points since 2022, and try to restore the artistic creation experience that can be shared in this practice process.
