Throughout the history of the Shanghai-POP, females have mostly played the role of singers. While there is such a modern wonder woman, who not only sings, but also excels in composing lyrics and music. Persisting in her musical career in the Shanghai-POP industry, which was dominated by male composers at the time, Liang Ping stands out as a remarkably talented individual. This lecture traces the ups and downs of Liang Ping's life as a musician, and leads to the vicissitude of Shanghai-POP industry in the 1930s and 1940s, from the northern to the southern expansion of Szechuan Road. It also examines how Zhongshan natives in Guangdong Province became the pioneers of the modern life and music of Shanghai. Amidst the whirlwind of history, the lecture prompts reflection on the individual struggle between commercial success and artistic integrity, or alternatively, forging a path less travelled of eclecticism.

Wang Mozhi (b. Shanghai,1982) currently works and lives in Shanghai. As a writer and music critic, he has authored the novels Modern Variations and Comedy of Consolation, the short story collection 310 Shanghai Inhuman Stories, and the series of articles of the non-fiction project Early Propagation of Rock and Roll in Shanghai and Blue Love Songs Written for the Shanghai-POP, which can be found at The Paper.

Momo (Cai Zhexuan, b. Shanghai, 1974) is a former media editor, now a freelance writer, self-publisher, author, translator, project planner, as well as a collector of physical recordings. Momo is an observer and researcher of the pop music industry, the performance industry, and the phenomenon of pop music culture. In recent years, he has published translations of How Music Got Free, Bowie On Bowie, and the book Sandy Lam: Wildflower.

Sun Dasi (b. 1981, Shanghai) works and lives in Shanghai as an independent musician and artist. Since 2013, they have released physical albums, documentary digital soundtracks, and digital EPs including Innocent in Your Presence (2013), Where There Are Magpies, There Are No Crows (2015), White Nights Past (2018), Don't Be Afraid of a Small Boat (2020), Wrecking Chan Acquaintance (2021) and Can Your Home See the Oriental Pearl Tower? (2023), and more.


在“时代曲”的历史中,女性大多充当演唱者的角色。而有这么一位摩登奇女子,她不仅能歌还善于自己作词作曲,在当时以男性词曲家为主的“时代曲”行业中坚持自己的音乐事业,她就是才女梁萍。本讲座以音乐才女梁萍的人生起伏为起点,牵引出从四川路北端到南端上世纪30-40年代上海“时代曲”工业的兴衰历史,以及广东中山人如何成为海派摩登生活与音乐的开创者。在历史漩涡中作为个体的音乐人,又应该如何在商业与独立,亦或开创折中路线中做出选择。

王莫之(1982年出生于上海)目前生活工作于上海。作为作家、乐评人他著有长篇小说《现代变奏》、《安慰喜剧》,短篇集《310上海异人故事》,非虚构项目“摇滚乐在上海的早期传播”、“为时代曲写的蓝色情歌”之系列文章散见《澎湃新闻》。

墨墨(本名蔡哲轩,1974年出生于上海)前媒体人,现为自由撰稿人、自媒体人、作者、译者、项目策划人,同时是实体唱片收藏者,流行音乐产业、演出产业及流行音乐文化现象观察研究者。近年陆续出版译作《音乐是怎么变成免费午餐的》、《大卫·鲍伊访谈录》和著作《林忆莲:野花》等。

孙大肆(1981年出生于上海)作为独立音乐人、艺术工作者现生活工作于上海。从2013年起她先后发行实体专辑、纪录片数字原声和数字EP包括:《在你面前很无邪》(2013)、《有喜鹊的地方就没有乌鸦》(2015)、《白夜往事》(2018)、《不要怕船小》(2020)、《肆陈相识》(2021)和《你的家看得见东方明珠塔吗?》(2023)等。
