The Made in Shanghai Project recovers the most conspicuous and easily ignored urban genes. From the city landmark to illegal structures, from public space to urban ruins, we collect the cards of our city and the deserted architecture unknown to public. Separating from each other, juxtaposing together, intervening and interacting, overlapping with each other, these typical and untypical architecture and urban space constitute a mixed and represented Shanghai. Through refraction, filtering and deformation, the final urban landscape created from the extracted urban genes becomes both familiar and unfamiliar to us. Different viewers may have his own memory, desire and imagination of Shanghai, all of which is totally a collage heterotopia.

“上海制造”发掘这座城市最为人关注和最容易被忽视的都市基因：从城市地标建筑到违章建筑、从公共空间到建筑废墟，我们收集城市的名片和不为所知的废弃物。这些既典型又非典型的建筑和空间，彼此分离、并置、侵入、交叉、覆盖，共同组成了一个异质混合、重新呈现的上海。而最后通过抽取的基因再组合成的城市图景，经过了折射、过滤和变形，显得既熟悉又疏离，不同的观者都可以从中找到自己独特的上海记忆、欲望和想象，一个拼贴的异托邦。
