My father Guobo has lived in Shanghai since 1955 when he returned to China until 2010 when he passed away. The city has become his second hometown.
In the beginning of 1980s, my father took his camera and started his exploration in Shanghai. Ever since then, he has kept taking photos for nearly twenty years until he was too old.
In 2009, I made a selection of around 200 photos out from his more than 1,000 films, and edited them into this photography album Light and Shadow of Shanghai, in which you will find the loneliness and the happiness of a photography fan.
Time & Space Traces of Shanghai
As majored in architecturehimself, Guo Bo always paid more attention to architectures. But as he has left us, the original documents and background information of a huge amount of photos are not available any more. In order to maximize the value of those documentary photos, more further research are needed later, which will may be my task in future, but also need the help from you who are familiar with Shanghai.
Guo Yun was born in Shanghai in 1956 and went to Japan in 1981. He is working in the Department of Photography of Asahi Shimbun, Japan.

父亲郭博，从1955年归国至2010年逝世止一直居住上海，上海是他后半生的故乡。
八十年代初，父亲拿起相机，开始了他的上海探索之旅，直至晚年行动不便为止，父亲拍了近二十年的照片。
2009年由我从父亲拍摄的一千余卷胶卷中选出二百多余幅照片编成《上海光影》摄影集，一个摄影爱好者的孤独和乐趣全在于其中。
由于郭博本人是建筑专业，因此他的眼光总是不断的倾注于建筑，大量的资料照片，因他逝世，已无法和他的当初的摄影记录核实，为了发挥纪录照片的价值，还需后人整理研究。这或许是我今后的任务，更希望能得到熟悉上海的大家的协助和支持。——郭允
