The John Moores Critics Award is founded by its committee members including College of Fine Arts in Shanghai University, International Association of Art Critics (United Kingdom), Rockbund Art Museum (RAM) and Liverpool John Moores University (United Kingdom) . On February 22nd in 2013, RAM is about to hold the John Moores Critics Award Seminar to announce the winners and to make a review and summary for the first John Moores Critics Award. Honorary President of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) Henry Meyric Hughes and other specialists or award winners are going to deliver statements and discuss issues about contemporary art in the question and answer section with the public.



It is co-organized by Cultural and Education Section of the British Consulate-General, Liverpool Biennial and John Moores Foundation (United Kingdom), also sponsored by the DSL Collection (France). The Award as an inauguration is designed to review paintings shortlisted for the John Moores Painting Prize in UK and China,which owns a history of more than fifty years.



The 2012 John Moores Critics Award has finished the selection process through submissions, shortlists and selections. All the shortlisted works would be published along with the award-winning works, to be the relative archive for the catalogue of the 2012 John Moores Painting Prize.

About the Speakers



Henry Meyric Hughes is an independent curator and writer on art. He is Honorary President of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA), in Paris and General Co-ordinator of Council of Europe exhibitions.



Lewis Biggs was the curator and artistic director of Liverpool Biennale, the director of Tate Liverpool. He has long been dedicated to promote the interchange between art and urban culture. Now he is a member of the Advisory Committee of Rockbund Art Museum since 2011, also aninternational advisor to Shanghai University.



Fei Dawei is one of the most important curators and critics for contemporary art in China. Since the later 1980s, he has curated series of exhibitions and it was him that first promoted Chinese contemporary art forward an international arena. From 1995 to 2003, he was one of the jury for the UNESCO Art Foundation. He chaired the Guy & Myriam Ullens Foundation and turned to be the first director of Ullens Center for Contemporary Art from 2002 to 2008. He resigned from the position in 2008 and became an independent curator and critic.



Bao Dong (b. 1979, Anhui province) is an art critic and independent curator. He graduated from the Sichuan Fine Arts Academy in 2006 with an M.A. in Art History and has curated exhibitions for a wide range of art organizations since 2005. In contributing essays to the artistic dialogue and other forms of involvement, Bao has established himself as a leading curator and critic of work by the “new generation.”

由上海大学美术学院、国际艺术评论协会AICA(伦敦)、上海外滩美术馆(RAM)与英国利物浦约翰·莫尔大学共同发起并创办的约翰·莫尔绘画评论奖,将于2013年2月22日,在RAM举行评论奖学术研讨会,公布获奖名单,同时也对首届约翰·莫尔评论奖进行全面总结与回顾。国际艺术评论协会名誉主席Henry Meyric Hughes等艺术评论人士及评论奖得奖者将与会讨论发言,在与公众的对话环节也将根据诸多关于当代艺术的问题提出议题进行讨论。



约翰·莫尔绘画评论奖意在针对约翰·莫尔绘画奖入围的中英两国绘画作品的评论进行批评讨论,这对已具有五十余年历史的约翰莫尔绘画奖来说也是首创。赛事由英国领事馆文化教育处、英国利物浦双年展组委会与约翰·莫尔绘画基金会协办,并由法国DSL收藏基金特别赞助支持。



2012年约翰莫尔评论奖经过了征稿、初选、终选已经完成评选工作,所有入围文稿将于英国约翰·莫尔评论奖获奖文章一同出版,并作为2012年约翰·莫尔绘画大赛画册的姊妹文献。

嘉宾简介



亨利·梅里克·胡格思是一个独立的策展人与评论家,担任国际艺术评论协会名誉主席,欧洲展览处(巴黎)总协调人。



路易斯·比格斯,曾任英国利物浦双年展策展人与艺术总监,利物浦泰特美术馆馆长,近年来为推动艺术与城市文化交流不遗余力。自2011年起担任上海外滩美术馆艺术委员会委员,同时也是上海大学国际顾问。



费大为,中国当代艺术最重要的策划人和批评家之一。自八十年代后半期以来所策划的一系列展览活动,首次将中国当代艺术推向国际舞台。费大为1995年至2003年担任联合国教科文组织艺术基金会的艺术评审,2002年至2008年任尤伦斯基金会主任,并任首任馆长。2008年年中辞去UCCA馆长一职,成为独立策划人和批评家。



鲍栋,生于1979年,是中国新一代艺术评论家和独立策展人的代表之一,2006年毕业于四川美术学院,获美术史硕士学位,自2005年开始在各类艺术机构策划 大量的当代艺术展览,撰写研究及评论文章、并以各种方式参与不同的艺术实践。
