About the Event 关于活动

This is the sixth talk in a series under “Second Assembly: Exhibition-Making Practices in China and Southeast Asia in the 1990s,” a curatorial project jointly organized by Biljana Ciric and Rockbund Art Museum.

An exhibition is not only where works are collected, arranged and presented, but also a rendez-vous of complicatedly interwoven relationships – works/artists, time/space, curating consciousness/concept/practice, community developed through collective efforts, political-social-economic-cultural context, as well as audience involvement and participation, which can be seen as a complex on a whole. How can this complex develop a roadmap for discussing, analyzing, recording, describing and studying exhibitions?

We are honored to have LU Pei-Yi, a curator, researcher and art critic from Taiwan, as our guest speaker to share her recent experience in research and practice such as editing the research-based book Contemporary Art Curating in Taiwan (1992-2012) from 2012 to 2015, providing a proposal – The Future of Contemporary Curatorship: A Hub for Moving Platform and Thinking Machine Hub – for Art Critique of Taiwan from 2014 to 2015, and organizing the talk series of Curating History/Histories of Curating in Asia I and II from 2017 to 2018. In the talk, LU will try to find materials, methods and unique perspectives for the ongoing curating of contemporary art and discuss exhibition history by basing on the present and looking back on the past, in a bid to review the development and challenges of contemporary art curation in Taiwan from an Asian perspective.

此次讲座是上海外滩美术馆与比利安娜·思瑞克联合策划的“第二次集会:1990 年代中国及东南亚地区的策展实践”系列讲座的第六场。

展览不仅是作品的集结、安排与展示,而是诸多复杂交织关系的汇聚:作品 / 艺术家、时间 / 空间、策展意识 / 概念 / 实践、集体协力之社群、政治 - 社会 - 经济状况 - 文化脉络、观众之涉入参与等,可整体视之为「复合体」(complex )。对于展览此一「复合体」要如何发展出可以谈论、分析、纪录、书写与研究之方法?

本次讲座邀请到台北教育大学当代艺术评论与策展全英文课程主任吕佩怡,请她从近年来的研究与实践出发,从《台湾当代艺术策展二十年》书籍制作(2012-2015)、艺术观点ACT〈当代策展学:迈向知识生产与思辩行动〉专辑企划(2014-2015),到「亚洲.策展/史」I、II系列演讲之策画 (2017-2018),试图为进行中的当代策展寻找材料、方法、独特的切入视角,并从当下回望过往,梳理与书写关于展览的历史,也希冀从亚洲视角来对照台湾当代艺术策展之发展与困境。

About the Speaker 关于讲者

LU Pei-Yi, curator, researcher and art critic. Her research interests are theory and practice of contemporary art curation study, off-site art (artistic practice outside museums) and art museum issues. A research-based book edited by her Contemporary Art Curating in Taiwan (1992-2012) was nominated the 10th Annual Award of Art China for “Publication of the Year.” She was an associate curator of the 8th Shenzhen Sculpture Biennale We Have Not Participated (2014); curator of Micro Micro Revolution (2015) at the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art (CFCCA) and co-curator of the 5th Taiwan International Video Art Exhibition-Negative Horizon (2016) at Hong-gah Museum. She is currently Head of MA Program (taught in English only) on Critical and Curatorial Studies of Contemporary Art, National Taipei University of Education.

吕佩怡,策展人,研究者,艺评人。研究兴趣为当代策展研究之理论/实践、off-site art(美术馆之外的艺术实践)、美术馆议题等。编辑策画之出版《台湾当代艺术策展二十年》(2015)获得第十届ACC艺术中国「年度出版物」提名奖。策展方面:2014年担任深圳雕塑双年展「我们未曾参与」副策展人;2015年「微型小革命」策展人,英国曼彻斯特华人当代艺术中心(CFCCA); 2016年担任共同策展人「第五届国际录像艺术展-负地平线」凤甲美术馆。目前为国立台北教育大学当代艺术评论与策展全英文学程主任。
