The Compatible Bazaar Art Program
While contemporary art is characterized by the "White Cube" (art gallery/art space) and the quest for uniqueness, the latest practice of art is about introducing multiple means to penetrate people's daily life and tacit encryption. And hence compatibility has become the first criterion of the downloadable aesthetic forms.
In the era of cultural globalization and interconnectivity, "The Compatible Bazaar Art Program" aims to explore and develope the "compatible" art formats by the artists that connect with the social environment. Initiated by XiYiTang-Shanghai International Art Graduate School and having been included in the reseach project of "Creation & Globalization" of the National Superior School of Art of Nancy in France, this art program will run for one year with the operational support by Shanghai Deyi Culture & Art Consultancy. In this program, art in different forms will be showcased in the dock of this experimental bazaar. In a small area of 2.70 x 2.70 m, the bazaar seems no different than others in the Xinhua Commodities Market on Anshui Road. Without doors, signs and introduction, this bazaar space is awaiting for artists to fill it with their creative ideas, as well as to immerse it with the surroundings so that the relationship with everyday life is immediately established.
Xia Yilan and Paul Devautour, creative heads of "The Compatible Bazaar Art Program" will introduce to the audience some of the 25 completed art projects since Sep 2011. Some participating artists of this program will also present to share their experience They are Chen Xiaodan, Wang Yuhong, François Trezin and Xu Zhifeng.

兼容的盒子艺术计划
现当代艺术史以"白立方"（画廊/艺术空间）和对特立独行的孜孜以求作为特性标志，而最新的艺术实践则借由各种手段，无孔不入，渗透浸润于日常生活，人群以互相懂得的密码沟通。兼容性已经成为下载形式美学的第一个标准。在文化全球化、网络化的今天，邀请艺术家来考察，发掘，发展出新的、与社会环境相融的"兼容格式"。陆续将有各种形式的艺术在这个实验杂货铺"小盒子"登场，计划持续一年。
该项目由习艺堂-上海国际艺术研究生院发起，纳入法国南锡高等艺术学院“创造力与全球化”研究项目，由上海得译文化艺术交流咨询有限公司运营支持。
这个2,70米 x 2,70米的迷你空间位于安顺路新华小商品市场内，是小街诸多杂货铺中的一间。没有门，没有标识，没有解释，只等待感兴趣的艺术家来考察周遭环境后，提出改变这个空间、且不改变与周围环境和谐兼容气氛、达到融入日常生活之即时效果的个人创作想法。
项目创意人夏意兰和保罗-德沃图（Paul Devautour）将为大家介绍“兼容的盒子”从2011年9月至今完成的25个项目中的几个，并邀参加过该项目的几位艺术家一起来交流体会。
