Julika Rudelius will be discussing her work to date and her creative process as a hybrid filmmaker slash artist. Her work often occupies the space between fact and fiction exploring the boundaries between narrative and documentary. Focusing on power, capitalism and sexuality within society she turns her camera on the theatrics of real life.
Internationally recognized video and performance artist Julika Rudelius’s work has been displayed widely including exhibitions at the Tate Modern, London; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; ZKM, Karlsruhe; Brooklyn Museum, New York; and the International Center of Photography, New York. Her work has been featured in several biennials including the 'Gwangju Biennale', and 'Media City Seoul'. She has had solo shows at the Swiss Institute of Contemporary Art, New York; Centre Culturel Suisse, Paris; Stedelijk Museum Bureau, Amsterdam; and at the Frans Hals Museum, Haarlem. Ms. Rudelius was featured on the cover of Art Papers and a catalogue of her work entitled 'Soft Intrusion' was published by Sternberg Press. She currently lives and works in Amsterdam and New York, where she is preparing her latest show, a solo exhibition at Leo Koenig. For more information, visit www.rudelius.org.
