About

"In Short, Future Now" is a publication supported by the long-term art project "Curtain" curated by the Bund Museum of Art in Shanghai in 2020. The collection consists of three parts: in addition to the long poems, a beautiful flipchart at the end of the book - a postcard of the artist's work and a score of the work Quora Fora: A Rehearsal.
The full-length science fiction poem "In Short, Future Now" imagines the Asian archipelago in the wake of authoritarianism and climate catastrophe, contemplating how to escape the more destructive power struggles and cycles. Drawing on the forms of "lunga" and "haiku," Asia appears as an archive of the future in this single poetry series.
"I grew up in Asia, but for a long time I was far from this land. I imagine a future Asia as an event, a post-authoritarian frontier, a subject after a new disease and surveillance, a need, a Fermi problem, a wilder post-superfuture Asia."

--Jason Wee
