Workshop II - Ordinary to Extraordinary

In our second workshop we consider how time changes every day objects into
artefacts of historical interest. We will create our own everyday objects that could
one day be considered 'beautiful' if found in a thousand years, and using Liu Jianhua
and other famous ceramicists such as Willem de Morgan as inspiration, through the
medium of air drying clay render these 3 dimensional objects into two dimensions.
We will also connect with any future viewers of these artworks/artefacts by adding a
time capsule message into each piece, thus trying to bridge the gap between the
present and the future.

在此工作坊中，我们将思考时间如何把日常事物变为具有历史意义的文物。我们将创造自己的日常事物，如果在一千年后被发现，很可能被认为是“美丽”的文物。同时受启于刘建华及其他著名陶艺家如摩根（Willem de Morgan），以空气干燥的粘土为材质，将这些三维事物转变成二维。我们还会在每件作品中放入一份时光胶囊，使未来的观众与这些艺术品或文物建立联系，从而试着弥合现在与未来的差异。
