Oral History of Family Migration is a workshop derived from Shubigi Rao's exhibition These Petrified Paths at the Rockbund Art Museum. Shubigi Rao focuses on the "underground" as a survival strategy. For her, marginal communities preserving their own way of life and telling their own stories effectively resist hegemony. The workshop by Luo Zha invites participants to illustrate and narrate the migration history of their own families. Using specific locations and events that affected migration, the workshop jointly traces the memories flowing along each individual's bloodline path that has not yet been petrified.

Workshop Process:

The workshop is led by Luo Zha, who has been actively involved as a member of “the Dinghaiqiao Mutual Aid Co-governance Initiative” since 2018. In 2021, she initiated "the Lazy Man's Home" at her residence. Through organizing activities such as workshops, exhibitions, screenings, and book clubs in a semi-open domestic space, she aims to practice social engagement within the context of daily life. Luo Zha endeavours to explore the resistance strategies of ordinary individuals against structural oppression.
