A Shanghai girl delves into everyday conversations,
Hongkou Sisters revel in the local vernacular
In the second act, Shanghai native Pan Lu shares her thoughts through multifaceted perspectives on Shanghai and the concept of "Shanghaism." She discusses her research on the city’s urban space and memory as a scholar, as well as her experience of co-directing an essay film as an artist. Following this, Pan Lu will dialogue with local cultural worker Chen Yun, exploring their shared experiences of growing up inHongkou District and its rich, layered cultural heritage.

Pan Lu is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chinese History and Culture, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Pan is the author of three monographs: In-Visible Palimpsest: Memory, Space and Modernity in Berlin and Shanghai (2016), Aestheticizing Public Space: Street Visual Politics in East Asian Cities (2015), and Image, Imagination and Imaginarium: Remapping World War II Monuments in Greater China (2020). She is the chief editor of The 70's Biweekly: Social Activism and Alternative Cultural Production in 1970s Hong Kong (2023) and The (Im)possibilities of Art Archives: Theories and Experience in/from Asia (2024). As a filmmaker, she co-directed Many Undulating Things (2019), Miasma, Plants, Export Paintings (2017), Traces of an Invisible City: Three Notes on Hong Kong (2016) with Bo Wang and Anachronic Chronicles: Voyages Inside/Out Asia (2021) with Yu Araki. She was one of the curators of Kuandu Biennale, Taipei, 2018.
Chen Yun (b. 1981, Shanghai) worked as a researcher and coordinator for the West Heavens project (2010-2019). She has also curated and organized projects around urban conditions, including the exhibition Dinghaiqiao: Art Practice into History, Dinghaiqiao Mutual Aid Society (2014-2018), and 51 Personae Project as assistant curator of 11th Shanghai Biennale (2016-2017). Since 2018, 51 Personae has become an independent art publishing project.

Zhu Yue, graduated from Beijing Dance Academy and is now a young teacher of Zhejiang University.
Starring in dance dramas:Loess Ballads, Farewell, Xiahe Bowa, Wait- maid, Ye Jintian's Peach Blossom Garden, World-Mother Dhara, those stories. Dance works: the Zen Theory of the double-headed Buddha and Mad Niang. Starred in the cross-border performance of the famous Israeli dancer Emile Colburn and young dancer Wang Yabin.
Independent choreographers: Ji and Falling Snow won the Golden Award for choreography and performance by the professional group of Singapore International Arts Festival; choreographer dance video work X.Y. was selected for China Dance Image Exhibition, Macau ROLLOUT Dance Image Exhibition and San Francisco Dance Film Festival; directed and performed dance video Rhapsody won the Best work Award of Beijing International Film Festival and KUKI's International Short Film Festival International Film week. The independent director of the dance video work Uninvited Guests was selected for the Beijing International Film Festival-Dance Film Art season.
Wang Wanna is currently a young actress with Shanghai Yue Opera Troupe, and a representative of a new generation of disciples in “Xu (Yulan) Artistic Style”. She graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy, majoring in Xiao Sheng (Young Male Character), and studied under the guidance of Wang Xiuyue, a famous actress, and Qian Huili, a contemporary Yue Opera artist.

Previous Awards: In 2018, she received the "Newcomer Leading Character Award" at the 28th Shanghai Magnolia Drama Performance Awards. In 2019, she was selected for the 7th Shanghai Literature and Art Award "Young Artists Development Program", and won the "Golden Art Award" in the "Yuemei Zhonghua" National Yue Opera Youth Actors/Actresses Grand Performance. In 2021, she received the "Silver Award" at the "Leixiang Zhonghua" National Youth Opera Invitational Tournament. In 2022, she received the Shanghai Youth May Fourth Medal (Individual). In 2023, she received the “China International Arts Festival Rising Artists Works”.
上海小囡细察日常闲话,虹口姐妹畅聊市井腔调
其间,上海人潘律从多角度谈谈她所了解的上海和“上海主义”:从上海城市空间和记忆的研究方法到作为艺术家联合执导的散文电影。之后,以对话形式,她将与上海本地的文化工作者陈韵继续聊聊她们共同成长的虹口区以及其层层叠加的文化资源。

潘律现任香港理工大学中国历史及文化系副教授。她著有三本专著:《看不见的复写城市: 柏林和上海的记忆、空间和现代性》(2016)、《公共空间的审美化:东亚城市的街头视觉政治》(2015),以及《图像、想象和想象之所:大中华地区的二战纪念碑》(2020)。作为一名影像艺术家,她与王博合作导演了《涌浪之间》(2019)、《瘴气、植物、外销画》(2017)、《港城三记》(2016年);与荒木悠共同执导《倒错的编年史:出入亚洲之旅》(2021)。她是2018年台北关渡双年展的策展人之一。
陈韵(1981年生于上海)于2010—2019年任印中社会思想和当代艺术交流计划“西天中土”执行人。她曾获2014年首届PSA青年策展人计划第一名,策划“定海桥:对历史的艺术实践”展览,并同时发起定海桥互助社(2014-2018)。作为第十一届上海双年展策展组成员,她策划和组织“51人”项目(2016-2017),并在双年展结束后将其发展为一个以出版为方法的独立艺术项目至今。

上海越剧院青年演员,“徐(玉兰)派”传人,毕业于上海戏剧学院,工小生,师从著名演员汪秀月、当代越剧表演艺术家钱惠丽。
