“Khek Dhang Ke” is a long-term community project initiated by the Rockbund Art Museum in 2020. It brings together educators, artists, scholars, architects, curators, and neighbors to document the evolving life of the Bund through public practice, fostering local connections and mutual understanding.

The name “Khek Dhang Ke,” meaning “living room” in the Shanghai dialect, reflects a space once shared for exchange and gathering. As gentrification has transformed the area, many former residents and collaborators have moved on to new chapters in their lives. Khek Dhang Ke Anecdotes revisits these individuals on the museum’s 15th anniversary, gathering memories of past collaborations while tracing both personal milestones and changes in the neighborhood.

The documentary short series, Khek Dhang Ke Anecdotes, invited the following individuals to participate in the filming: Pingping and Kong, residents who previously lived on Huqiu Road; Chen Shengqiang, a resident who previously lived on Hankou Road; Chen Lianyun and Chen Yueyan, the former owners of Huoyu Noodles on Sichuan Road; Zhou Zhengpeng, the former owner of Zhengxu Barbershop on Huqiu Road; Sun Dasi, Zhang Lihua, and Fang Danteng, collaborating artists for the Khek Dhang Ke program; Jovi Tong, a collaborating educator for the project; Xu Ming, the founder of Urban Archeo; and Xu Tiantian, Pan Min, and Zheng Peihan, the initiators of the Khek Dhang Ke program.

This short film series was curated by Joni Zhu, Xu Tiantian, and Tintin Zhao from the Rockbund Art Museum team in Shanghai, and filmed and edited by director Ag. Interns Zhen Cheng and Valinor Yinuo Wu also contributed.

Khek Dhang Ke Anecdotes had been screening daily on the Museum Plaza during the RAMa 2025, with a public conversation between Chen Lianyun, Chen Yueyan, Zhang Qinfang, Xu Tiantian and Tintin Zhao on September 20.
