2019年，艺术家、导演杨圆圆受上海外滩美术馆“RAM海莱茨”项目邀请，带着旧金山华埠夜总会的退役舞者余金巧（Coby Yee）和方美仙（Cynthia Yee）成立的都板街舞团（Grant Avenue Follies）在美术馆演出；2024年，杨圆圆将这部追溯舞者文化身份脉络和演出历史的歌舞公路片带上大银幕，她本人也从一名以图像和视觉文化为实践媒介的艺术家转身成为一部电影的导演。
In 2019, as part of “RAM Highlights”, artist and filmmaker Luka Yuanyuan Yang was invited by Rockbund Art Museum for a performance featuring Coby Yee—a retired dancer from San Francisco Chinatown’s legendary Forbidden City nightclub—and the Grant Avenue Follies, a dance troupe founded by Cynthia Yee. In 2024, Yang expanded the work into a musical road movie, bringing to the big screen a story tracing cultural identities and the history of Chinatown nightclub performances. The project also marked Yang’s own role from being an artist working primarily with images and visual culture to a feature film director.
