Adel Abdessemed always leads audience to further think about the relationship between images and words through his unique ways to capture, perceive and express things. The artist's ingenious fabrication of image and word and cross-media approaches greatly broaden the room for his expression. While "image" is his language, the "image" he uses also contains words. In his work, mostly in the lower left corner, a word or a phrase inscribed is neither a title, nor a semantic or narrative indication, which is different from Chinese literati painting in which the inscriptions often function as some kind of supplementary explanation. Take the Cocorico Painting for instance. The words in Abdessemed's work serve as a side note, a slogan, a unique weaving of the visual and subtle emotions. The speaker of this lecture, Ms. Wu Hong, lecturer of School of Philosophy of Art at Fudan University, will lead audience to experience and explore personal expressions, colors poetry and media reinventing through images and words.

Words and images pervade our daily lives. Among them, one major type is symbolic, which functions as an important media for people to communicate due to its power of abstraction and generalization. Another type is to cause visual impact as it would automatically trigger visceral responses due to its rich colors and changing lines. Words and images have different forms of representation and effects. To artists, how to explore their respective potential, to break through the boundaries and integrate different means of perceptions are one of the most challenging parts in their practice. The lecturer will share several cases of the encounters between words and images in art. Through calligraphy, visual poetry, patterns on architecture and the interplay between texts and images on hand scrolls, the lecture encourages audience to ponder upon the miraculous encounters between words and images.

阿德斯梅常以其独特的捕获、感知、表达事物的方式引导观众进一步思考图像与文字之间的关系。艺术家对图像与文字的巧妙再造和跨媒介创作也为其带来了更宽广的表达，他以图像为语言，而“图像”里也包含文字。阿德斯梅通常会在作品左下角题写一个单词或短语，这些词语不具备语义或叙事意义。不同于中国文人画以题字作为画作的某种补充说明，讲究字与画之间的关联，互为衬托；如展品《可可丽可绘画》中的题字更像是一个旁注、一句宣言，以及一种对于视觉图像与细腻情感的独特编织。本场讲座，复旦大学艺术哲学系讲师吴虹，将从图像与文字出发，展开对个人表达、颜色、诗歌、再塑媒介的体验与探讨。

文字与图像充溢着我们的日常生活。一种是符号性的语言，因其强大的抽象和概括能力而成为人类进行沟通交流的最重要媒介；一种是视觉上的震动，其丰富的色彩、多变的线条可以直接作用于人的神经系统，自动引发身体上的感受。文字和图像在表现形式和作用效果上都有不同，而艺术家如何挖掘它们各自的潜力，如何突破它们的边界、调和不同的感知方式，是艺术创作中最具挑战性的部分之一。本讲座分享艺术创作中文字与图像相遇的不同案例。通过如书法、图画诗、建筑上的文字图案和手卷中文字和图像的互动等具体的讨论，从而对文字和图像的相关问题进行思考。
