Screen printing - everything can be printed except water and air! The principle of screen printing is that when the printing plate is printed, the ink is transferred to the substrate through the holes of the screen under a certain pressure to form an image or text. Based on this principle, screen printing can be called universal printing. In addition to the well-known textile printing, plastics, ceramics, glass, wood and other materials cannot escape the super printing capabilities of screen printing!

This "John Armlaed: Again, Again Exhibition" presents Amlaide's diverse painting practice and wall stippling works on the second floor and the fourth floor respectively. We will extract the splashing/pouring/ Repeat/drip and other creative rules, and continue the exploration of issues such as chance and repetition, improvisation and order through screen printing.

In the workshop, the students will have the opportunity to experience the unique charm of screen printing, from the design pattern, plate exposure, and the surprise moment when the final pigment falls from the scraper and reveals the answer on the substrate, the students will be guided by professional teachers Learn the whole process of screen printing, and finally have a screen printing peripheral work of your own!

*Note: Participants must be 13 years old and above

About the Event

Screen printing – everything is printable! (Maybe not water and air.) Screen printing is a printing technique where a mesh is used to transfer ink onto a substrate to produce a design featuring image or scripts. Screen printing is also known as all-purpose printing: other than the more familiar materials like textile, plastics, ceramics, glass and wood can also be used as the substrate for screen printing to exert its magical power.

During the exhibition of “John Armleder: Again, Just Again”, the galleries on the second and fourth floors present a diverse selection of the artist’s painting works and a wall painting specially made for the space. Drawing inspiring from the artist’s ingenious use of paint, including splashing, pouring, repeating and dripping, the workshop intends to continue the exploration into issues such as chance and repetition, improvisation and order.

During the workshop, participants will have the chance to experience the unique charisma of screen printing. From pattern design, plate making, screen exposure, using a blade to move across the screen to fill the open mesh apertures with ink, and then to the big-surprise moment: to see it for yourself the final result, participants will experience the whole process of screen printing step by step under the guidance of instructor. And more excitingly, in the end of the workshop you will bring home with you a unique piece of screen printed something made by your own!

*Participants must be 13 years old and above.
