About the Event

Sunday morning, come and exercise at “Huqiu Park”. We will bring the spirit of the park to life: the dynamic equilibrium between stillness and movement, an everlasting state of easiness and endless vitality, to inspire the mind through the warm current of art.

The workshop will start from park-style morning exercise, evoking your body and cells through breathing exercise, mind calming, yoga stretching, balance exercise and dynamic meditation. Then through a series of exercises focusing on the body, behavior, each other and the environment, let’s deepen individual’s and collective’s acuity and creativity to immerse in the present. Finally, let everything to sprawl into an improvisational performance for ourselves and for each other.

“Huqiu Park” on view at John Armleder’s solo exhibition is a collaboration between him and photographer Leslie Zhang. With the floating blocks of memories containing heterogeneous elements inlaid in the “park”, a serene field that tends to “seduce” people to feel lost in reverie is constituted. We’ll embrace the serenity and “seduction”, dedicated ourselves to the ambience of the field and activating our body and mind bit by bit to truly put it into practice that “process is creation and art is life”.

About the Musician

Guzheng-playing foreigners are a rare breed. Even rarer is stacking a guzheng with synthesizers, stompboxes, groove machines and playing it backwards.

A constant experiment of an unheard guzheng style tends to steal the spotlight, right until Yukes begins singing. The lyrics instantly forego the need for any electric accompaniment, revealing his struggle with stability, uncertainty, lost tranquility and youth.

A contemporary blend of East & West, Justin's hypnotizing performance strives to reinvent the guzheng and open minds in the process.
