Rockbund Art Museum Advisory Committee was officially founded in May, 2011. The museum directors, critics, curators, cultural researchers, and museum professionals from China and overseas have been appointed to be the committee members. The committee aims to ensure the museum is developed by a professional curatorial and administrative team, with its goal of “academic rigor, professionalism and internationalization”.
The 2015-2017 Advisory Committee is composed of five members of distinguished museum professionals and curators, including:
Hou Hanru, MAXXI(National Museum for XXI (21st Century) Arts) Artistic Director
Sunjung Kim, Curator and the current President of the Gwangju Biennale Foundation
Ute Meta Bauer, Founding Director of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA) in Singapore
Dr. Alexandra Munroe, Samsung Senior Curator of Asian Art Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum
The members are appointed by the Museum Board, and each appointment is two years.
Members’ responsibilities include: to assist the planning of the Museum’s strategy and academic development; to provide the advice on the annual curatorial plan as a reference for the final approval by the Museum Board; to enhance the scholarship of the Museum by providing academic counseling on exhibitions and educational programs; to develop and promote the collaboration and exchanges between the Museum and its overseas counterparts.
