As the first Chinese journal on China’s contemporary arts, Chinese Contemporary Art Studies is featured with originality, openness and rationality. It advocates broad academic horizon, rigorous micro studies and the awareness of sensitive issues. The journal is dedicated to breaking down the barriers among art history, art commentary and art theory writing, as well the boundaries between the above mentioned areas and other humanitarian disciplines.

Maria Lind, a curator and critic based in Stockholm, is invited as special guest for this event. Her presentation will be based on the essay she contributed to Active Withdrawals- Life and Death of Institutional Critique and revolve around the institutional practice she has developed as director in Tensta Konsthall, Stockholm. The co-editors of the publication, Ms. Cai and Ciric will give a brief introduction about the background and the issues they have brought up in this anthology.

In Britain, with the development of circus, the clown changed into a more familiar image as we see today. So what did the clown went through along the history? What's the function? Are they going to survive in today's society? Prof. Gong will tell the story and try to find answers during the talk.
