Performance art was so active in 1960's, but it was only few countries in the world including Japan. Then it's almost disappear. But since 1990's, again performance art became active in the world. And it was not only few countries, so spread out in the world including all Asian countries, Latin America and Central/Eastern Europe. Today we can see so many festivals in the world. Mr Seiji Shimoda will show video and talk about today's new meaning of performance art.
A poet, artist, director of NIPAF, lecturer of Musashino Art University in Tokyo, Final jury of Chinese Performance Art Document exhibition in Macau Art Museum.
Born in Nagano, Japan in 1953. He started Performance Art in 1975, stayed in Paris for 3 month in 1982 and organize several art festival in 1980's in Japan. He is founder of NIPAF in 1993, and started NIPAF Asia in 1996. NIPAF already invited more than 400 foreign artists from 50 countries in this 20 years. As performance art educator, he had lots of workshop in the world. Specially in Asia, lots of artists were influenced his own activity and NIPAF.
