The John Moores Critics Award is founded by its committee members including College of Fine Arts in Shanghai University, International Association of Art Critics (United Kingdom), Rockbund Art Museum (RAM) and Liverpool John Moores University (United Kingdom) . On February 22nd in 2013, RAM is about to hold the John Moores Critics Award Seminar to announce the winners and to make a review and summary for the first John Moores Critics Award. Honorary President of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) Henry Meyric Hughes and other specialists or award winners are going to deliver statements and discuss issues about contemporary art in the question and answer section with the public.
It is co-organized by Cultural and Education Section of the British Consulate-General, Liverpool Biennial and John Moores Foundation (United Kingdom), also sponsored by the DSL Collection (France). The Award as an inauguration is designed to review paintings shortlisted for the John Moores Painting Prize in UK and China,which owns a history of more than fifty years.
The 2012 John Moores Critics Award has finished the selection process through submissions, shortlists and selections. All the shortlisted works would be published along with the award-winning works, to be the relative archive for the catalogue of the 2012 John Moores Painting Prize.

About the Speakers
Lewis Biggs was the curator and artistic director of Liverpool Biennale, the director of Tate Liverpool. He has long been dedicated to promote the interchange between art and urban culture. Now he is a member of the Advisory Committee of Rockbund Art Museum since 2011, also aninternational advisor to Shanghai University.
Larys Frogier director of Rockbund Art Museum
Wang Dawei graduated from China Academy of Art in 1982. He is currently the dean of College of Fine Arts, Shanghai University.
Cao Dan was born in Guangzhou in 1972. She studied in Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. As a painter, filmmaker and designer, she lived and worked in China and France since 1997. She is the executive publisher of LEAP, a contemporary art magazine (bilingual, internationally distributed) since July 2012.
