    Guest Speakers’ Bio

    Wu Liang, renowned literary critic. As an active figure in the literary world of China in the 80s, Wu Liang is known for his incisive and sensitive critics. His interest turned from literary to art after 1990, and he began to pay attention to contemporary paintings and photography. In 2000, Wu Liang returned to the world of literary criticism, continuing his work as a critic and published a series of comments regarding literature and cultural phenomenon. He currently serves as the chief editor of Shanghai Culture. Some of Wu Liang’s criticism work includes Choices of Literature, A discovery of Criticism, and his essay collection includes The Past and the Dreams, City Notes, and Art in Shanghai, etc.


    Zhang Hong, graduated from Jiujiang Medical College in Jiangxi province, and worked as a doctor. He received his PhD in literature from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at East China Normal University and currently works as the professor and doctorial advisor at the School of Liberal Arts, and the director of the Institute of Cultural Criticism at Tongji University. He is interested in cultural philosophy studies and pop culture criticism. Proposing intensive reading of texts and cultural semiotics, he is known for his unique critiquing perspective, trenchant writing and shrewd language style in the field of cultural criticism. His publications include collected works of criticism Poetry Studying of Different Voices, In the Domain of Sense, and Sounds in the Dark, and editorial works The Chinese Culture Map of 21st Century (multi-volume), etc....
