【Exhibition Plus · Lecture】Maps, Streets and Plans for Wandering
Apr 11, 2015 Saturday 19:30 - 21:00
2F, Rockbund Art Museum (Shanghai 20 Huqiu Road)
A map of a city is the primitive roaming reference for wanderers and explorers. However, it does not reflect the life of the city. Streets are always alive. Wanderers, daydreamers, collectors of stories, objects and images, theatre artists, performance artists and contemporary artists travel from west Europe to the Middle East and then from Middle East to Shanghai. They work on the existing streets and laneways of cities or modify them. Without knowing it, they and their art plans have become a different kind of map. Two speakers will share with us the special wandering maps they used and discuss about similar explorations made by local young artists.
Zhao Chuan is an art commenter and theatre artist. He is the organizer of a folk theatre troupe called Grass stage (which means a small dramatic troupe). He also authored two books: Abstract Stories of Shanghai and A little History of Radical Art.
Chen Yun is the project manager of West Heavens, a cultural exchange program. He also won the PSA (the Power Station of Art) Emerging Curators Programme with his exhibition Dinghai Bridge: An Art practice into History.
Free admission, reservation is required.
