6F,Rockbund Art Museum
* Free admission to RAM member only.
As an artists collective, the Yangjiang Group has always been thinking about how to inherit and to create. They are accustomed to refining Chinese culture from traditional aesthetics. What Zhen Guogu said about a "vivacious Zen of life" in fact is the distillation and understanding from life of what true needs really are. Sensing beauty from life, thereby extracting elements of beauty from life, and then interpreting this with traditional culture. The " Zen of life" is a wisdom about life, which is the source for all inspirations.
Zheng Guogu will interact with the audience in a form of “tea talk”, and share their thoughts and understandings of traditional Zen culture, and the wisdom and art of life.
Yangjiang Group is an artistic group founded in 2002 by Zheng Guogu (b. 1970, Yangjiang, China), Chen Zaiyan (b. 1971, Yangchun, China) and Sun Qinglin (b. 1974, Yangjiang, China). They use the unique medium of Chinese calligraphy to develop a diverse contemporary practice. The Yangjiang Group and their collaborators also aim to rid their artistic practice of any established rules and controllable conditions. Their works, more precisely speaking, are series of daily actions and process in the form of non-traditional, large-scale, architectural structures that are produced for themselves in Yangjiang, as well as for galleries, museums, and site-specific exhibitions at art fairs. Furthermore, they regularly perform a variety of commonplace activities within these spaces, such as meeting, eating, drinking, bartering, gaming, and gambling.
Free admission, reservation is required.
