With dancer’s sensitivity to the body, Yu Yanan observes the subtle relation between people, society and nature by studying the body, which is also her way to perceive the world and the universe. In her artist-in-residence program, a precisely set “body”, which is placed in a special environment, has to complete a series of preset movements and interact with the environment. Yanan will express her opinions by illustrating the relation between people, society and nature she has detected in Chen Zhen’s works. She will explore the topic about restriction through two different presentation forms.
Yu Yanan, born in Wuhan, is an independent dancer and choreographer. She began her career as a professional dancer by joining Guangdong Modern Dance Company in 2010. She integrates dancing background with conceptual art, fine arts and mathematics, keeps exploring the experimental and functional aspects of body movements and dance forms and increases the possibility of applying other forms to present contemporary art. She was invited to attend Israel’s Karmiel Dance Festival, Tel Aviv performance season, Sino-European Cultural Dialogue and OPEN LOOK St. Petersburg International Dance Festival.
