Born in Jalapa, Veracruz (Mexico) in 1962. Lives and works between New York (USA), Mexico City (Mexico) and Paris (France).
Gabriel Orozco works with various media such as sculpture, photography and installation. His works capture the transitory traces of human presence within the environment. Balls of wet sand, the condensation of breath on the glossy surface of a piano, the wet tracks of a tire on the road: these are the raw materials with which he creates his works, so perishable that they can only be preserved through photographic documentation. Orozco rarely creates objects in his work studio; he prefers a nomadic approach to art which opens the way to casual encounters and spontaneous forms of urban poetry.
