Born in London (United Kingdom) in 1962. Lives and works in London (United Kingdom).
In the late 1980s, Sarah Lucas emerged as one of the most interesting exponents of the Young British Artists movement and from her debut she left her mark on the international contemporary art scene with works marked by a strong visual impact. Sexual cliché and denigratory and vulgar expressions towards women are translated by Sarah Lucas into sculptures and images whose titles highlight her aggressive sense of humor. Her pieces are pervaded by irony and ambiguity, both when the artist represents herself in masculine poses and attitudes, and also when she explicitly reproduces sexual organs using everyday objects, or when she materializes the objects of masculine desire.
