Andreas Mayer Brennenstuhl was born in 1957 in Heilbronn, Germany. He studied at the HKT Nürtingen and the Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart. Since 1986, he has taken part in actions and interventions in different social fields. His work focuses on interventionist practice in urban situations and public space, as well as on strategies of participation. Cooperation, subversion and aestheticization in and of specific social and political contexts are at the heart of his creation. He is founder and co-founder of several autonomous art groups, such as Oberwelt e.V. and SOUP. He further teaches at several universities of applied sciences.
